If you haven’t been to Yellowstone National Park in the winter, we think it is absolutely the best time to visit the park. This time of year features very few visitors.  Combine that with the winter weather, wildlife, and beautiful landscapes. Yellowstone in the winter is unlike anything else!

Wildlife we hope to see:

  • Bison
  • Elk
  • Deer
  • Coyote
  • Fox
  • Bobcat
  • Wolves
  • Ermine
  • Otters
  • Bald Eagles
  • Golden Eagles
  • Owls and more!

We will have a hotel in Bozeman for the day of arrival. This will ensure everyone is present and we depart the next morning on time. In Gardiner we have a very nice vacation rental home. It is very comfortable.

Breakfast and dinner will be prepared by us at the house. This and taking sandwiches, snacks and beverages into the park, will maximize our time in the field. We are able to work with dietary restrictions and provide hearty meals throughout the tour.

The majority of the tour will be done with us driving a large passenger van. Since the van will be a 12+ seater vehicle and there will only be 4 guests there will be ample room for everyone and there gear.

Yellowstone has extremely harsh winters. Temps can frequently drop to zero to -40. We will provide our guests with clothing recommendations. You can expect to need, thermal base layers, heated socks, cold weather boots, hand warmers, cold weather hat, gloves, and dress in layers.  You will be in a heated vehicle most of the time.  But should be prepared for the cold when we stop for photos.

What to Expect

We will be exploring the northern regions of the park, which goes from Gardiner to Cook City, through Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction, and Lamar Valley.

Arrive via BZN airport any time on the 25th. Here you will take a shuttle to a nearby hotel for the evening which is included. We will pick you up the following morning and begin our adventure.

Our tour will be based out of a very nice vacation rental home in Gardiner, MT that we have used for several years. We will prepare breakfast and dinner at the house. Lunch options are very limited in the park so we will prepare sandwhiches and snacks. This will maximize our time in the park.

We will also be doing one private snowcoach! This will take us to the park’s interior where we hope to find additional wildlife and see some of the iconic locations like the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone or Old Faithful.

What is included:

  • All meals while in Gardiner, Mt.
  • Transportation from the hotel near BZN airport and back
  • Snow coach and park fees as required
  • All nonalcoholic beverages

Not included:

  • Transportation to and from tour
  • Additional hotel stays not mentioned above
