Join us on our tour to one of the best places to view Alaska Brown Bears.
Lake Clark is one of the few locations where viewing is not limited to platforms or extreme viewing distances. You simply can not view brown bears (or any bear for that matter) like you can view these bears. We utilize ATV pulled carts to get around and because these bears are acclimated to humans we can get exceptionally close.
Late August typically brings the Silver Salmon into the waterways near the lodge. That is where we hope to find the action. If the conditions are right, we will see bears fishing the waterways. We also see them grazing in the fields and clamming on the beach.
We can cover over 10 miles of coast line by way of carts pulled by ATV’s. But, we still will walk roughly 2-3 miles throughout the course of the day.
Since access to the remote wilderness lodge is only by chartered bush plane, we will have hotel rooms in Anchorage for the first night. The following morning we will go to one of the smaller airfields for a scenic bush plane flight (a little over 1 hour flight).
Upon arrival at the lodge we will have a brief orientation, get fitted for boots, have lunch, and head out for our first bear viewing opportunity.
The remaining days will basically be a sunrise outing, then breakfast, then a morning outing, lunch, then an afternoon outing, then come back for dinner and a final evening outing. Days start with coffee at 5:30am and end at 10pm
While we are driven around in carts pulled by ATV’s we will also get some steps in, which can be approx 2 miles per day. It all depends on the conditions. we will traverse tidal mud flats, meadows, and even shallow waterways.
