Journey to the Land of Jaguars!

The Pantanal is rapidly become a very popular destination. While jaguar tours have been in place for roughly 30 years, very few people knew how amazing this place truly is.

The Pantanal is home to the 3rd largest and fully aquatic cat, the jaguar; as well as hundreds of bird species, and amazing creatures like the caiman, tapir, capybara, several species of monkeys, the fascinating giant anteater, and the elusive ocelot…. just to name a few.

We will stay in 3 different lodges while in the Pantanal. Each is in an ideal location for various wildlife viewing. One for the giant anteater & capybara. One for the elusive ocelot. One for the amazing jaguars.  All have access to beautiful birds.

During the Jaguar portion of the tour, our days will be spent on a premium river boat. Similar to a bass boat, it is equipped with swivel chairs, a collapsible canopy, matted floor covering, and a power converter. These are the most comfortable boats on the river.  There are snacks, hot beverages, water, soda all onboard.

The lodges do well at working with dietary restrictions. A lot of Vegetarian options as well.

While on the river photographing jaguars we will park under a tree to eat lunch on the boat.  That way we are still close by for a jaguar siting.

What to Expect

Upon arriving in Cuiaba, Brazil we will greet you at the airport and escort you to our hotel for the evening. We will have dinner at the hotel.

The following morning we will be picked up by our local guide and begin our journey to the Pantanal. About half way to the Port Jofre (jaguar land as its known) are lodges that are home to the giant anteater and the ocelot. We will do one on the way to the jaguars and one on the way back.

The Ocelot viewing is not 100% guaranteed. We utilize a night blind for viewing. We will also do a small boat ride here mainly for birds. The following morning we will do a short walk for howler and capuchin monkeys.

The giant anteater lodge will drive us in modified trucks, like safari vehicles. Besides the anteaters we may see fox, rhea, macaws, capybara and more.

In Porto Jofre we will have an early breakfast then head out on the river for the day. We will be out for 11-12 hours, so this means we will be using designated spots in the jungle for restrooms.
